Week 6 – Manner, figurative and reported speech

· Lesson 16 (Grammar ⑩ – manner and metaphor)
· Content: expressions to describe appearance and resemblance, such as “~ようだ”, “~みたいだ”, “~らしい”, “~っぽい”, “~かのように”, and “~ように感じる”.
· Materials: TRY! N3 Chapter 4 Unit 1
· Activities: describe pictures and illustrations; practice listening to capture the speaker’s impression.
- Lesson 17 (Grammar ⑪ – reported speech)
· Content: learn “~そうだ” (appearance vs. hearsay), and reported speech markers “~って”, “~ということだ”, “~とか”, etc., and understand differences in usage.
· Materials: TRY! N3 Chapter 4 Unit 2
· Activities: practice quoting news and conversations; create dialogues using reported speech.
- Lesson 18 (Reading booster ① – short passages)
· Content: intensive practice on the short‑passage section of N3 reading (advertisements, notices, emails). Understand question types and train quick information retrieval.
· Activities: select several past questions and time the responses. After answering, ask students to explain the reasoning behind the correct choice.
