Across a ground quartered in gold, red and pale blue, a ship comes in with its sails raised. It is a nanban ship under dark sails, the kind people drew as a treasure ship, carrying good things from far-off countries. Fitting, perhaps, for a maker who first fell in love with the world at a harbour.
The obi had fastened someone's best days before it was cut and sewn by hand. May something good be sailing toward you.
