Only for you

A wish, woven in. For someone dear to you.

OKURIMONO

From one obi, one at a time.

We take kimono obi that have finished their first life and cut them, one by one, into cushion covers, table runners and bags. Even from the same obi, no two pieces show the pattern the same way. Cranes, tortoise shell, waves, pine. Each pattern carries a wish that people have entrusted to it for centuries. You choose by the pattern, thinking of the person. That is the kind of gift this is.

First obi · met in January 2024

Cranes in a circle, on deep red.

On a ground of deep red, a crane spreads its wings inside a circle. Cranes are said to live a thousand years and to keep one partner for life. This was an obi for celebrations. Who wore it, and when, we do not know. But it certainly held someone on a bright day.

One cushion cover was made from this obi. It has left for a new home.

For a friend far away

The card does the explaining.

Each piece travels with a card that tells the wish of its pattern, in English and Japanese, and ships directly from Japan. In a Nordic room, an obi cushion settles in quietly. These pieces found their first homes abroad.

For a milestone

The pattern speaks for you.

A retirement, a new home, a new beginning. Pine for long life, crane for celebration, tortoise shell for protection, waves for a bond that lasts. The wishes are old. They reach the person even without words.

For someone who has helped you

Light to carry, long to remember.

About the prices

Cushion covers are ¥12,000 or ¥25,000, insert included. Table runners are ¥15,000 or ¥25,000. Bottle bags are ¥12,000 and card cases ¥7,000. The difference is not size but the grade of the obi. Where gold and silver thread or embroidery lead, the price is the higher one.

How it is made

We choose the obi and decide how the pattern will sit. A seamstress sews each piece, one at a time. This work began with a grandmother who worked with her hands, and a grandfather who kept a tailor’s shop.
